Pair of floor lamps by Louis Sognot, circa 1950-60.

Louis Sognot (1892-1970), had an illustrious career as a designer and furniture maker during the mid 20th century. Co founder of the Bureau International des Arts Français, he collaborated with the greats of the time - Charlotte Alix, Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Serge Mouille. His ground breaking designs in rattan were exhibited at the Salon des Arts Ménagers in 1939. Post war he became the specialist of light wood and rattan furniture making in France

Made of bamboo held together with rattan and a cylindrical cotton canvas shade which gives off a lovely soft warm light.

Superb original condition. No damage, no repairs, no marks to the fabric. Very rare to find in this condition due to the fragile nature of the materials.
